Leisure opportunities in Grindelwald
Right in the very heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau Aletsch area, active holidaymakers can discover new paths, tracks, trails and slopes every single day – in summer and in winter. Hotelier Christian Brawand is an experienced skier and mountain rescue expert. He and his brother Bruno know numerous hiking trails and routes like the back of their hand, and so are more than happy to offer advice, even if you are planning a tour which will take you up into the mountains. Just ask and then you’ll be good to go: ready to walk, cycle, ski and more! And of course, we’re well placed to give you some tips about snacks and refreshments too!
HIKING & TRAIL RUNNING
The extensive regional network of trails is not only a paradise for hikers and walkers, but also offers countless running routes too. So trail runners are guaranteed to get their money’s worth!
And if you want to hike our beautiful Alps, we are very happy to provide you with hiking maps, hiking poles and backpacks, tour provisions and tickets for the mountain railways. Then, after you have spent an exciting day outdoors, you’ll find a massage works wonders! So why not book yourself a treatment session at the Hotel Kirchbühl’s reception.
BIKINIG
Lonely bike paths and daring descents are waiting for you and your mountain bike! Alex, our certified bike guide, will take you to the most beautiful places, help you with your tour planning and give you valuable tips to make the most of your next bike adventure. In addition, we can offer numerous extras for bikers, such as bike racks, a lockable bike room, a service corner, a washing area and a dedicated bike corner with detailed trail maps.
LEISURE ADVENTURE
Ever heard of the First Flyer, the First Glider or the Trotti Bike? If you would like to experience some thrills and excitement on your holiday in Grindelwald, it’s an absolute must to try out these new and adventurous means of transportation.
When you take a ride – or more precisely a flight – on the First Flyer, you whiz down four 800-metre-long, parallel-tensioned wire ropes into the valley, reaching speeds of up to 84 km/h in the process.
On the First Glider, which has the profile of a soaring eagle, you will take a hovering flight across a distance of 800 metres. Not once but twice – first backwards and then forwards!
A Trotti Bike is the perfect fusion of a scooter and a bike: you stand upright on a wide running board and travel comfortably down into the valley thanks to well-sprung suspension forks and large-profile tyres.
The Mountain Cart combines the experience of a go-kart and a toboggan. And here you can sit while you ride down the natural track which leads to Berghaus Bort.
WINTER SPORTS
Alex is not only an experienced bike guide but also a ski instructor who, as well as being your Brawand family host, can also help you to plan your next winter excursion, give you tips on skiing and refreshments, and is in every respect your go-to person for advice and support. Thanks to our close proximity to the lifts, you can ski and snowboard directly to the Firstbahn in good snow conditions, and then back to the hotel in the evening.
